Hey Reader!

David Kessler here.

Micro May on Kickstarter is coming up

Last year, Nicole Fende launched her game Cupcake Craving through Kickstarter’s Micro May event. The game was successfully funded. Now she’s coming back for more!

Micro May is an event curated by Kickstarter to showcase many micro games in one collection, aimed at reaching lots of players. Nicole appreciated the active group of indie designers and publishers who all support each other, offer feedback, and cross promote each other’s campaigns. Here's a link to join that wonderful group on Discord!

Although the event happens in May, Nicole says that getting your campaign ready, learning about cross promotion, and establishing yourself in the designer community needs to happen beforehand. It has already begun for people who participated in Micro May last year. If you are looking to launch a small game through crowdfunding, including print and play, keep your eye on the yearly Micro May event. There is no cost to participate, and you will join a community of people who understand you and want you to succeed.

Since it can be nerve wracking for indie designers to launch their first campaign, Micro May was a great way for Nicole to get started. Once your your campaign is involved, Kickstarter actively promotes you. You get to see the stats; Nicole knows that it helped to drive traffic and backers for Cupcake Craving.

This May, she is launching Cryptid Creek–a micro game about inventing a cryptid to draw tourism to your town.
