Hey Reader!

David Kessler here. One of the best things–or dare I say, THE best thing–about Protospiel Online is the community. When I first attended, back in the Summer of Covid, 2020, I thought I’d have a good opportunity to fill seats at my game table while hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. What I found instead were people devoting their time and energy to help me with my goals; openness, generosity, no judgment, laughter, advice, hard truths; friends I see event after event, and people I genuinely care about. It’s the community that keeps me coming back three times a year.

Feely Human

Nōn Wels, one of Protospiel Online’s fantastic moderators, is a great conversationalist who has a knack for helping people feel seen and appreciated.

Nōn is launching the Feely Human Community, and you can get in now as a founding member!

The Feely Human Membership Community is a private community created for feely humans—mental health advocates, the big-hearted, seekers and big feelers, and those who want to make the world a better place one heart at a time.

Heather Newton, the lead organizer for Protospiel Online, had this to say:

While the Feely Human Membership community offers plenty of space to be more of who you are in its free tier, the paid membership features more live online events such as monthly expert-led workshops, a Movies That Make Us Feel movie club, weekly deep dives on specific topics (like boundaries or the books that shaped us), and a twice-monthly Emotional Check-In cohort.

Protospiel fosters community around playtesting and games. Feely Human does that around empathy, vulnerability, and emotional curiosity.

Through February 11, anyone who joins as a paid member will get a special founding member rate! After February 11, the price for joining as a paid member goes up.

• Jonathan Chaffer, designer of The Turkey Trial, The Groundhog Gambit, The Birthday Burglary, The Cupid Crisis, Bouba/Kiki, Grubs, and Super Robo Country (among others), has started a newsletter about his work, which includes a new game or puzzle in every issue!
• Xoe Allred, designer of VelociRapture, Opacity, Bread, Unraveled, Paige Against the Machine, Conviction, and Persuasion, also has a wonderful newsletter sharing major updates about work, games, and other projects.
