Hey Reader!
David Kessler here.
Kirsten Lunde has been a staple of Protospiel Online practically since its inception. She says that being a moderator for PO “is one of the most fulfilling things” she does in game design. She’s gone from being a complete nervous novice to being able to help and guide others to comfortably participating in all that Protospiel Online has to offer. I, for one, and many others of the Protospiel community are very excited to see Kirsten’s game, Ovation, make such incredible progress. She has been bringing it to Protospiel Online since July, 2020 and it has now launched on Kickstarter. For all her hard work, Kirsten truly deserves her own...
Ovation is a classical music-themed engine building game. In Ovation, you become one of the greatest classical composers of all time. You’ll choose one of four actions each turn to gain Inspiration, or draft cards that make future turns even more effective. Joy, passion, and sorrow are your main resources that you'll use to turn inspiration into glorious compositions! You'll also perform musical masterpieces to achieve your legacy while trying to please your fickle patrons.
Get inspired, by attending your rivals' performances, to create your own works of genius as you compete to become a Maestro and secure your reputation as the greatest composer of all!

Discord is rolling out a new username format to remove the "discriminator" (the # followed by a 4-digit number we've all had at the end of our usernames since the dawn of Discord). If it hasn't happened for you yet, we expect that sometime soon, when you open or update Discord, you'll be prompted to set a new username and display name.
The plus side is that usernames are going to become easier to remember, and joining Discord might start feeling a little less complicated and intimidating for new users. The down side for us here at Protospiel Online is that our helpful li'l registration bots are built around the original username format, so we need to make some adjustments to get them working again.
Although we don't have a set date for when badge sales will open, we expect to have registration up and working again with plenty of time to spare before our early bird sales deadline of Aug 14, 2023 for the Aug 25-27 convention weekend. Keep an eye on this Community Newsletter announcements section and/or sign up on the badges page on our website to be notified when badges go on sale.
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more awesome events, community opportunities, and updates about games tested at Protospiel!
~David
